The History of the Downtown in West Palm Beach, FL
Henry Flagler developed Downtown West Palm Beach as we know it today. In 1894, he imagined a tourist destination with hotels and beach resorts in neighboring Palm Beach.
Flager began to develop Palm Beach and build his railroad to bring in tourists from around the United States. He planned Downtown West Palm Beach as the residential area for hospitality staff and construction workers.
Downtown West Palm Beach experienced a boom between 1920 – 1927, and again post-WWII. This included the development of historic Clematis Street, the heart of Downtown. Like many cities, West Palm Beach experienced urban decay in the 1980s. The beautification of Clematis Street in the 1990s and the development of The Square brought Downtown back to life.
Today, Downtown is one of the most desirable neighborhoods to live, work, and visit in West Palm Beach. It is home to many attractions including:
- The Meyer Amphitheater on Lake Worth Lagoon
- Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts
- Trinity Park
- The City Place Tower
Hollander Law Firm Accident Injury Lawyers is proud to call this neighborhood our home.

Our Personal Injury Law Firm’s Primary Practice Areas
We specialize in many different types of personal injury cases.
Car Accidents
We regularly represent clients who are injured in car accidents Downtown. We help our clients negotiate with insurance companies and determine who is at fault. If you have a serious injury, we may need to file a lawsuit against the negligent party.
Construction Accidents
With all the development Downtown, we see a lot of construction accident cases. Sometimes it’s helping clients file a worker’s compensation claim. Other times it’s helping a bystander who got hurt because of a construction worker’s negligence. We handle it all.
Motorcycle Accidents
Motorcycle accidents are very dangerous and often result in serious injuries or death. These cases need a specialized attorney. Motorcyclists are usually the first person blamed in an accident, but we know how to fight against this unfair generalization.
Slip & Fall
Slip and fall accidents can happen at shops, restaurants, on the city sidewalk, or even at work. In slip and fall cases, we try to recover damages from the owner or operator of a property. To do this, we argue that they were negligent for failing to maintain safe premises. We will exhaust every avenue to get you paid after a slip and fall Downtown.
Truck Accidents
Florida is one of the most dangerous states for truck accidents. We are familiar with how trucks work and how trucking companies operate. This makes us experts in negotiating to get a fair settlement for clients hurt in a truck crash.
Wrongful Death
Wrongful death cases are devastating and require a compassionate, yet fierce, lawyer. We take these cases very seriously. Our clients routinely get fair settlements from insurance companies and at-fault parties.

What Does It Cost to Hire a Personal Injury Lawyer in Palm Beach County?
Most personal injury lawyers in Palm Beach County work on a contingency fee.
A contingency fee is a payment agreement between an attorney and their client. The client agrees to pay the attorney a percentage of the final settlement. If the client loses their case, they don’t have to pay the attorney. Usually, the percentage is around 30%.
Contingency fee arrangements level the playing field and make legal help accessible to everyone. Since the fee is a set percentage of the final award, you never have to worry about not having the money to pay.
Statute of Limitations in Florida Personal Injury Cases
A statute of limitations is the amount of time that you have to file a personal injury lawsuit. Once the statute of limitations has expired, you can no longer pursue damages in your case.
You’ll have two years from the date of the accident to file a personal injury lawsuit. If it is a wrongful death case, there is also a two-year statute of limitations. While there may be exceptions that lengthen the deadline, you should start working with a lawyer as soon as possible after an injury. That way, we can collect evidence and build a strong case without pushing up against the limitations period.
